Brigid Simmonds welcomes Community Pub Business Support Programme

Brigid Simmonds, British Beer and Pub Association Chief Executive, has welcomed The Community Pub Business Support Programme, jointly funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government and The Power To Change Trust. The two year programme has been established to help support community ownership of pubs in England and will be delivered by the Plunkett Foundation.

Brigid Simmonds comments:

“I very much welcome this programme.

“Local people facing the loss of their pub risk losing something special that binds the community together. BBPA has long been a supporter of Pub is The Hub who do so much good work in this area. Bringing local services such as a shop, post office or library, into the pub can make a real difference, and they are often services that wouldn’t be viable on their own.

“There is a huge amount of expertise needed to run a modern pub, from catering and hospitality, to licensing law and regulation. This funding will bring targeted help to those wanting to overcome the challenges and help keep their pub thriving.”
